Celebrating its fifth anniversary, the much-anticipated Knysna Timber Festival will take place from Friday 5 October to Sunday 7 October 2018 at Timber Village, Welbedacht Lane, Welbedacht.
The Knysna Timber Festival is an end-to-end showcase of local timber and woodworking materials, machinery, manufacturers, products, services, skills and industry innovations. The festival connects suppliers to buyers and promotes unity and collaboration across the industry.
The festival showcases local excellence across the value chain in the town where South Africa’s timber industry first took root. The festival is the property of the Knysna Timber Initiative (KTI), a trade body of local industry leaders who represent every segment of the timber and woodworking value chain.
Committed to the growth of the sector as a key driver of Knysna’s economic development, local government has a vested interest in the Knysna Timber Festival and is largely responsible for translating KTI’s vision into reality. This year, the festival has joined forces with the Knysna Municipality Economic Development Department and Wesgro, the official tourism, trade and investment promotion agency for Cape Town and the Western Cape.
The Knysna Festival has added an exciting new addition to the event this year – factory tours will provide an opportunity to witness the heartbeat of a local timber industry where one will get the chance to take a tour around Knysna’s amazing wood factories and see wood artisans at work.
In addition, the Garden Route Regional Timber Industry Stakeholder Workshop will highlight skills development as an enabler to regional timber industry growth and development; while the Knysna Timber Festival Consumer and Trade Exhibition will showcase South Africa’s excellence across the industry value chain.
Exhibition times run from 09:00 to 17:00 from Friday to Saturday; and 09:00 to 15:00 on Sunday. Entrance fee is R20.
