Bearings supplier BI has appointed Frikkie Ras as product manager for its chain and gears product portfolio.
Officially appointed to the position on 1 March 2018, Ras boasts over 13 years’ industry experience, including a stint as product manager and general manager at related companies. He holds a diploma in sales and marketing management and is in the process of completing his BSc engineering degree.
In his new position, Ras will support BI’s 44 branches nationwide by sharing his extensive knowledge of the company’s products with the sales teams. “My primary product focus will be on chains, sprockets and gearboxes. I will place particular emphasis on increasing the uptake of our chain products in industries, including timber,” Ras explains.
A main aim is to transfer his many years of industry knowledge and experience to the BI salesforce, in support of the supplier meeting, and exceeding, its sales targets as it focuses on providing complete solutions for its customers’ specific requirements.
Chain products distributed by BI include transmission, sugar, scraper, motor car timing, offset sidebar, agricultural, leaf, engineered elevator, conveyor, positively infinitely variable chain, Ramsey silent tooth chain, heavy-duty welded steel and specialised drill rig chains.
