Get ready to honour the local built environment with the 11th annual South African Construction Industry (SACA) Awards set to take place on 6 October 2018.

The SACA Awards aim to promote the achievements of South African engineers, architects, project managers, quantity surveyors and construction companies. Headlining this year’s awards is South African minister of public works Thulas Nxesi as the special guest of honour.

Launched in 2007, the awards endeavor to publicly recognise and reward excellence in construction; encourage and celebrate creativity, professionalism and innovation in construction; and support improved business planning, development and internal analysis.

The awards also aim to provide a benchmark for best practice within the industry; continuously improve and raise standards; reinforce the value of business and client confidence in business; and most importantly, encourage South African economic growth.

Finalists are judged by a panel of industry peers selected based on their knowledge and experience in the industry, including the media. Judges are grouped in teams of five, but independently review and score nominees. Each group assesses about three categories.

The judges are looking for sustainable businesses that are making a real contribution to the South African economy with passion, planning and a commitment to excellence and innovation.

Construction professionals oversee the awards judging process. Their role is to audit nominees for compliance, transparency, fairness, audit score sheets and check conflicts of interest and confidentiality declarations.
