We extract from the second presentation of the conference entitled, “Sustainable Construction in Wood” by Anssi Lassila from Finland.
The essence of his talk was that the primary purpose in the construction using wood is, “To create a better life”.
Wood can create better sustainable buildings as this is being practised in Europe and USA to a great extent.
One is speaking here about large scale buildings.
Lassila elaborates, “Our architectural practice looked at more efficient and cost effective ways of wood construction and developed Modular Construction as shown in the illustrations. Naturally roof support and the slab being built on will be concrete and other materials, but essentially wood is the bulk of the material because of its sustainable qualities.”
